About Us

Sweet Home Ranch is located in the Sierra Foothills of Auburn, California.  We have lived in Auburn nearly twenty years and our children are active in the local 4-H program.  Our semi-arid climate is ideal for raising Boer goats because they are able to tolerate long, hot summers and our mild winters minimize most of the management problems associated with raising livestock in colder, wetter climates-the Sierra foothills is prime GOAT COUNTRY!

Our Goal

 It is our goal for our goats to thrive in our dry, somewhat rocky pastureland browsing native and seeded grasses while requiring only a reasonable amount of supplementation.  We choose to raise a commercial herd of percentage Boer goats breeding for maximum growth, mothering ability,  hardiness and longevity which can be attributed to the hybrid vigor of the Boer-Nubian and/or Boer-Kiko cross.  We evaluate our goats based upon structural soundness and what they do in the field and place less an emphasis on whether they are 75%, 89% or 96% Boer.  A good goat is a good goat!
